Manage and coordinate the activities of department 447 personnel with particular emphasis on Safety, Quality and Productivity.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (R), BS or BA in related field (P)
Experience: 3 years in Melt or Reclaim (P), 3 to 5 Years of Supervision of Union Employees (P)
Areas of Knowledge: Primary Melt and Reclaim Practices (R), Rotation Schedules (P), Knowledge of Raw Materials, Purchased Scraps, and Revert Scraps (R), Heat Charge Calculations (P), Mobile and Scrap Processing Equipment (R), Inventory Control (R), Department Budgetary (R), Downstream Processing (P)
Skills: Written and Oral Communications, Computer Literacy, and Interpersonal Skills (R), Computer Inventory Control Systems (P)
Role Responsibilities:
  • Meet or exceed all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Manage safety toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings for hourly personnel.
  • Address safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Manage 447 department personnel.
  • Process scrap and raw materials in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate inventories.
  • Coordinate with Melt Coordinator and other personnel to ensure the flow of needed material is maintained.
  • Track miscellaneous material generated in the plant and work to eliminate this material.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, adjust/investigate inventory irregularities.
  • Discipline employees as needed.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and training records
  • Aid in the investigation of scrap heats to eliminate problems from reclaim department.
