Description

 The Haunted Performer will   depict an assigned character role in Lagoon's Frightmares Haunted Attractions   using their voices, appearances, bodies, gestures, and props in accordance   with Lagoon's policies and procedures. This role involves performing in a immersive and high-energy environment, designed to create thrilling, spooky,  and memorable experiences for our guests. Performers will work within dark loud, and intense settings while maintaining high performance standards and  ensuring guest safety. As a key part of Lagoon's Frightmares team, the   Haunted Performer plays a critical role in bringing the chilling world of   Frightmares to life.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Acting:   Portray assigned Frightmares characters using acting techniques, voice modulation, physical gestures, and movement to fully embody the role and create an unforgettable guest experience.
  • Perform in the Frightmares Haunted   Attractions, contributing to the storytelling and atmosphere by engaging with guests in an interactive and spooky manner.
  •  Maintain consistency in character portrayal throughout your shift, ensuring that the performance is dynamic and consistent with the theme of each attraction.
  • Collaborate with fellow actors and performers to create cohesive and synchronized performances that enhance the immersive environment of Frightmares.
  • Ensure safety and guest enjoyment by adhering to all safety protocols, responding to unexpected situations, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Participate in rehearsals and training to enhance acting skills, character development, and performance techniques.
  • Interact with guests in a professional manner while remaining in character and keeping the guest experience both safe and thrilling.
  • Take care of props, costumes, and sets to ensure proper use and maintenance.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in the environment or direction, maintaining focus and professionalism throughout.

Requirements

Qualifications/Abilities

  • The Frightmares Performer position is open to individuals 14 years of age and older, in accordance with applicable work laws and exemptions. Under Child Labor Regulations Exemption   570.122(a)(3) of the Fair Labor Standards Act, minors in this age group may be employed in specific actor or performer roles that are exempt from certain restrictions on working hours and times.
  • All Frightmares performers should expect to work typical shifts ranging from 3 to 8 hours, with the possibility of extended shifts depending on operational needs. All performers, regardless   of age, must be available for shifts that include evenings, weekends, and   holidays, with many shifts extending into late hours, as late as midnight.
  • Strong Acting Skills: Ability to portray a variety of characters with distinct personalities, emotions, and physical actions. Prior acting, theater, or performance experience is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable performing in high-energy,   immersive environments with loud sounds, special effects, and dim lighting.
  • Ability to maintain character throughout a shift while remaining focused and engaged with guests.
  • Must be comfortable with physical acting,   including movements such as jumping, crouching, bending, and running.
  • Ability to take direction and adapt to performance adjustments or changes in the storylines or character requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and interact with guests while remaining in character.
  •  A passion for creating a spooky and thrilling atmosphere, particularly around Halloween-themed experiences.

Working Condition 

  •  This  position requires working in an environment that includes exposure to high   noise levels, bright/flashing light or darkened areas, fog or haze ,large crowds and other factors typical of an amusement park setting
  • This   position will perform essential job duties outdoors or indoors and be exposed   to environmental elements, including, but not limited to, extreme heat or   cold, wind, dust, noise, rain, snow, and direct sunlight

Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands   described below must be met to successfully perform the essential job   responsibilities:
  • Must be able to use fingers, hands, arms, and   legs to reach, climb stairs, and use hands to handle or feel
  • Able to perform a variety of physical movements for extended periods (up to 8 hours) of time, including standing,   walking, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and reach above head. 
  • Able to move equipment which may include   pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting
  • Able to walk to and from job locations up to   one (1) mile distance 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., props,   set pieces) as needed.
  • Comfortable working in dimly lit or dark spaces, maintaining energy and focus.
  • Must have sufficient hearing and visual acuity to ensure safety and respond to the performance environment and guest interactions.
