What is a Haskell?

A Haskell job involves developing software using the Haskell programming language, which is known for its strong type system and functional programming paradigm. Haskell developers work on applications ranging from financial systems and blockchain technologies to compiler development and distributed systems. These roles often require expertise in functional programming concepts, type theory, and performance optimization. Many Haskell jobs are found in research-driven industries, fintech, and startups leveraging functional programming for reliability and maintainability.

What kind of projects and team environments do Haskell developers typically work in?

Haskell Developers often contribute to a wide range of software projects, including fintech applications, data processing pipelines, and large-scale distributed systems. Teams can vary in size, but Haskell developers frequently work in small, highly skilled groups where collaboration and code review are important parts of the workflow. Many companies hiring for Haskell roles offer flexible, remote-friendly environments and encourage participation in open-source communities. Collaborating closely with product managers, QA engineers, and other developers is common to ensure robust and maintainable solutions. This collaborative setting fosters both individual growth and collective technical excellence.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Haskell position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Haskell Developer, you need advanced proficiency in functional programming, Haskell language expertise, and a solid background in computer science or software engineering. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, build tools such as Stack or Cabal, and knowledge of software development best practices are commonly expected. Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently or within a distributed team help set candidates apart. These skills ensure high-quality, reliable, and efficient code development in complex, collaborative software projects.

Job description

Every Location Matters. Our offices are more than physical spaces - they are strategic assets that fuel market growth, strengthen our brand, shape culture, and elevate both client and employee experiences.

The Regional Market Leader plays a critical role in unlocking this potential by providing strategic direction and business development across designated markets. This leader is responsible for driving local relationships and business and economic development while aligning closely with Haskell's internal Market Leaders and Segment Market Leaders across Planning & Development (P&D) and Construction & Manufacturing (C&M). By executing local market strategies and fostering strong client relationships, the Regional Market Leader creates sustainable growth and profitability. This role is instrumental in connecting corporate objectives to local execution—building high-performing teams, enhancing market presence, and delivering consistent results across the region.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Establish and implement regional policies, procedures, and organizational structure within the boundaries established by the Locations Market Segment Leader and corporate policy as it related to business development
  • Develop, direct, and monitor short-term and long-range plans consistent with Haskell's Market Leaders business plans
  • Plan, staff, and supervise the regional activities of the locations business development teams, including personnel administration, performance reviews, defining functions, responsibilities, power-to-act, and the like
  • Provide guidance and directions to subordinate managers in identifying potential clients and the desired scope of projects.
  • Maintain an effective business development and economic development program, securing profitable work in alignment with regional business strategy and corporate objectives on a routine basis
  • Build and sustain strategic relationships with key local stakeholders, including city and county officials, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, charities, site selectors, and AEC organizations, to enhance Haskell’s market presence and visibility
  • Confer with local marketing, preconstruction, design and construction staff in support of necessary client relationship activity
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with new and existing clients, local subcontractors, and A/E contacts to facilitate positive relationships and communication in connection with Haskell Market Leaders and their assigned Account Managers if applicable
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships in partnership with Account Managers and Haskell Market Leaders to position the business for new work and to maintain the relationship
  • Maintain or improve targeted markets project contribution/profit margins
  • Manage regional and local business development and advertising annual budget including Locations team travel, entertainment, industry subscriptions and associations, etc.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the functional needs of the region or as directed by the Locations Market Segment Leader
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
  • A deep command of the public and private construction industry, paired with the ability to lead complex operations at scale and translate vision into execution
  • A well-rounded business acumen, with expertise across financial management, marketing, estimating, and people leadership
  • Exceptional leadership presence, with the ability to align teams, influence stakeholders, and communicate with clarity and purpose
  • A proven track record of building, scaling, and elevating regional offices into high-performing, growth-oriented markets
  • A powerful local network and reputation, with the ability to activate relationships and consistently generate new business opportunities
  • The ability to create visibility and brand awareness within professional business circles and organizations to serve on committees or promote other Haskell colleagues into such opportunities
Education & Years of Experience:
  • Four-year degree plus 15+ years of experience in the AEC Industry
