Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Architect responsible for defining, governing, and evolving enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) capabilities. This role provides architectural and technical leadership to design and implement secure, scalable, and automated identity solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments for both human and non-human identities.


In this role, you will:

  • Own the end-to-end architecture for enterprise IAM solutions, including identity lifecycle management, authentication, authorization, and integration capabilities.
  • Define and maintain target-state and transition architectures that drive automation, scalability, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails across IAM platforms and services.
  • Design identity and security architectures aligned to business requirements, risk tolerance, and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with security engineering, infrastructure teams, application teams, and platform owners to ensure consistent implementation of IAM architectures.
  • Guide integration of IAM capabilities with enterprise applications, directories, cloud services, and authoritative systems of record.
  • Ensure IAM architectures support security, auditability, compliance, and enterprise risk management requirements.
  • Lead architecture reviews for new applications, platforms, cloud migrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Drive remediation strategies for IAM-related audit findings, control gaps, and technical debt.
  • Influence IAM roadmaps and investment decisions related to identity security, automation, and platform modernization.
  • Serve as a technical authority and thought leader within the IAM domain.
  • Mentor senior engineers and architects, promoting consistent architectural practices across teams.
  • Collaborate with governance and policy teams to translate business and security requirements into implementable technical controls.
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure architectures are operationally sustainable and scalable.


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Deep experience designing and leading Identity and Access Management architectures, with strong focus on access provisioning and lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of IAM principles including least privilege, segregation of duties, entitlement governance, and identity lifecycle controls.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise IAM, identity governance, and access provisioning platforms.
  • Proven ability to design large-scale, automated access solutions across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across security, technology, risk, and business teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, systems thinking, and written and verbal communication skills.

    Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
