Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) Opportunity – Hartsville, South Carolina About the Opportunity

A well-established, mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving communities throughout the Pee Dee region of South Carolina is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or an experienced Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) to join its growing behavioral health team.

This integrated healthcare organization has provided comprehensive, patient-centered care for decades through multiple medical, dental, behavioral health, pediatric, women's health, pharmacy, and specialty care locations. Providers enjoy practicing in a collaborative, team-based environment that emphasizes whole-person care while making a meaningful impact in underserved communities.

This position will primarily serve multiple clinic locations, with two days each week based in Hartsville, South Carolina. Clinic assignments are determined by patient demand to ensure access to behavioral health services across the region.

About the Position
  • Full-time opportunity
  • Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Practice at multiple clinic locations, including two days per week in Hartsville
  • Collaborative, integrated care model working alongside primary care providers and behavioral health professionals
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of behavioral health conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric illnesses
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, and monitor patient progress
  • Provide crisis intervention and supportive psychotherapy when appropriate
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) transformation efforts
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, hospitals, and community organizations to coordinate patient care
Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN or Physician Assistant in South Carolina
  • National certification as a PMHNP or NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant
  • PMHNP-BC certification preferred, or CAQ in Psychiatry for Physician Assistants preferred
  • Minimum of two years of psychiatric practice experience strongly preferred
  • Current BLS certification
