Job description

Emergency Medical Services Director

Harris County, Georgia, population 36,276 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta, 30 minutes north of Columbus, and home to Callaway Resort and Gardens and FDR State Park, is accepting applications for a full-time Emergency Medical Services Director. This full-time, exempt position, under the direction of the County Manager, is responsible for managing the EMS personnel as well as the department/rescue operations.

The EMS Director provides executive leadership and oversight for a multi-station Emergency Medical Services department, directing personnel, operations, budgeting, policy development, and strategic planning. This position is responsible for recruiting, developing, supervising, and evaluating employees while promoting organizational effectiveness, accountability, and morale. The EMS Director oversees financial administration, regulatory compliance, billing operations, customer service, quality improvement initiatives, training programs, community outreach efforts, and partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies. Additional responsibilities include directing logistics, communications, fleet and facility maintenance, and operational readiness while adapting services to meet changing community needs and ensuring the efficient, effective delivery of emergency medical care.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field and more than five years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work. Must possess or have the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must possess or have the ability to readily obtain appropriate state EMS certification.

The starting annual rate of pay is DOQ plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
