Balancing the unique needs of each horse while meeting race schedules requires strong organizational skills and close collaboration with veterinarians, farriers, and grooms. Trainers can address these challenges by staying updated on best practices, communicating regularly with their team, and using data from past performances to tailor training. Strong communication, quick decision-making, and composure under pressure are vital soft skills that help drivers collaborate with trainers and adapt during races. These skills and qualities ensure both the safety of horse and driver and maximize competitive performance on the track.

What is harness racing?

Harness racing is a type of horse racing where horses pull a two-wheeled cart called a sulky, driven by a jockey known as a driver. Unlike traditional Thoroughbred racing, harness racing typically features Standardbred horses and requires them to race at a specific gait, either trot or pace. The sport is popular in countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, and several European nations.
