What is a hardware operations manager?

Hardware Operations Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and performance of physical IT hardware within an organization or data center. They manage teams, coordinate hardware deployments, ensure uptime, and handle troubleshooting for servers, storage, and networking equipment. Their role often includes collaborating with other IT departments, optimizing hardware resources, and implementing security protocols to protect physical assets. A Hardware Operations Manager often encounters challenges such as coordinating timely hardware deployments, managing equipment failures, and ensuring minimal downtime in high-availability environments.
