Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Hardware Technician to join our team at the Fort Meade, MD location. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Troubleshoot malfunctioning specialized classified equipment using a wide variety of test equipment & diagnostic software to pinpoint root causes of hardware failure.
* Perform precise mechanical and electrical repairs and calibrations, including micro-soldering, capacitor replacement, screen replacements, and port repairs (USB-C, HDMI, etc.).
* Disassemble devices, clean internal components (fans, heatsinks), reapply thermal paste, and cleanly reassemble units to factory standards.
* Run comprehensive post-repair benchmarks and stress tests to ensure hardware stability and full functionality before redeployment.
* Parts Management: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, request components for ordering, and document all parts used in the ticketing system.
* Strictly adhere to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials like damaged lithium-ion batteries. Minimum Qualifications: * 1+ years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent
* Proficiency with precision hand tools, test equipment, soldering irons, heat guns, and rework stations.
* Deep knowledge of internal device anatomy (E.g. motherboards, power supplies, logic boards, LCD panels).
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, board views, and technical repair manuals.
* Solid understanding of ESD safety procedures and proper chemical usage (e.g., Isopropyl alcohol, flux). Preferred Qualifications: * Technical school degree or certifications in electronics/computer repair
* CompTIA A+
* IPC A-610 or IPC-7711/7721 (Soldering/Rework Certifications)
* Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) / Vendor-specific repair certs (Dell, HP, Lenovo) Clearance Requirements: * Must have a current/active TS/SCI w/ Poly Physical Requirements: * Must be able to move and lift 40 pounds.
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
* Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling microscopic or fragile components.
* Strong attention to detail; ability to work under a microscope or magnifying lamp for extended periods.
