Ace Hardware - Sales Associate Position

Ace Hardware, your local hardware store, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated full-time Sales Associate to join our team. As a Sales Associate, you will play a crucial role in engaging customers, providing assistance with their needs, and ensuring a memorable shopping experience. Join us and be part of a loving and enthusiastic team dedicated to serving our community.

Candidates must be available to work weekends as part of their regular schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly at all times.
  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise (as arranged by management).
  • Maintain your assigned department: Keep all areas clean, organized and fully stocked.
  • Actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management. Be part of the team and participate in store communications and initiatives.
  • Execute daily operational tasks accurately and efficiently as directed by store management.
  • Participate in team meetings, share ideas for improvement, and contribute to store initiatives.
  • Monitor merchandise displays, handle special orders, and prevent shoplifting through excellent customer interaction.
  • Operate the cash register, process customer transactions accurately, and assist with cashiering duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills with a passion for details
  • Knowledge and experience of various retail departments is strongly desired, 6-12 months retail experience preferred.
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the store.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills strongly preferred
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
  • Proficient in computer systems including related software.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record, in accordance with the company's insurance standards. This applies if the store manager determines the sales associate is able to drive company vehicles for customer deliveries and/or drive the forklift after adequate training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, as well as frequent walking, reaching, and bending to perform job duties.
  • Move and handle merchandise up to 50 pounds.
  • Adjust fixtures throughout the store, which entails assembling, lifting and displaying.
