Extraction Technician

StateHouse Holdings Inc. ("StateHouse") is a vertically integrated cannabis enterprise with licenses spanning retail, major brands, distribution, cultivation, nursery, and manufacturing. As one of the oldest and most respected cannabis companies in California, StateHouse has been instrumental in shaping the legal cannabis industry. Founded in 2006, its predecessor company, Harborside, was awarded one of the first six medical cannabis licenses issued in the United States. Today, StateHouse operates 12 dispensaries across Northern and Southern California and maintains vertically integrated cultivation and production facilities in Salinas and Greenfield. StateHouse continues to lead with a commitment to making cannabis safe, compliant, and accessible to a broad and diverse community of consumers across California.

The Extraction Technician assists with the safe handling of biomass and the preparation, refinement, and maintenance of extraction materials, equipment, and distillate. This role safely operates and maintains post-processing and crude oil refinement systems while ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, GMP standards, safety protocols, and company SOPs. The technician maintains accurate records, supports production activities, and works closely with the Extraction Supervisor to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (this list is not all inclusive):

  • Performs all pre- and post-production cannabis processing activities in full compliance with state/local regulations, GMP standards, and company SOPs.
  • Safely operates post-processing and cannabis preparation equipment, monitoring performance, adjusting parameters, and escalating issues when needed.
  • Maintains accurate and complete production, equipment, and batch documentation to support traceability and regulatory audits.
  • Consistently follows SOPs and reinforces best practices by modeling safe, compliant, and efficient work behaviors.
  • Supports production workflow by coordinating tasks, assisting teammates, and helping resolve bottlenecks to meet daily output targets.
  • Contributes to performance improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies, suggesting solutions, and supporting implementation.
  • Assists leadership with resource planning, ensuring staffing, materials, and equipment are aligned with production schedules.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and participates in the application of lean practices to reduce waste and improve consistency.
  • Ensures environmental, health, and safety procedures are followed at all times, including PPE use, safe chemical handling, and hazard awareness.
  • Completes assigned training on time and maintains ongoing compliance with certification and competency requirements.
  • Performs cleaning, organization, and equipment care activities to maintain audit-ready facilities and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Executes ad hoc projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly: stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods (up to 12 hours).
  • Frequently: reach above and below shoulder level; push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs; grip and flex wrists and hands.
  • Occasionally: sit, climb, balance, crawl, or kneel; push up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Constantly: use both hands for coordinated, repetitive movements; operate keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and around hazardous chemicals while wearing appropriate PPE.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 1–3 years of experience in food production, manufacturing, or a related role.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, recipes, and SOPs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive production tasks as required.
  • Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to cannabis manufacturing.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and pass company-required background and compliance checks.
