What is a hangar assistant?

Hangar Assistants are support staff who work in aviation hangars, assisting with the maintenance, organization, and safety of aircraft and equipment. Their duties often include moving aircraft, cleaning and organizing the hangar, helping with inventory, and supporting mechanics and engineers as needed. They play a crucial role in ensuring that aircraft are ready for flight and that the hangar environment is safe and efficient. Hangar Assistants may also help with documentation and compliance with aviation safety regulations. This entry-level role provides valuable experience for those interested in aviation careers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hangar assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Hangar Assistant, you need basic mechanical aptitude, familiarity with aircraft ground handling, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Staying organized, being proactive about routine equipment checks, and remaining vigilant about safety guidelines help address these challenges and contribute to smooth hangar operations.
