Job description

Mission Statement

Position Summary

Responsible for performing both janitorial and property maintenance, along with preventative maintenance tasks throughout the corps facility.  Scheduling and implementation of all vehicle maintenance and repair.  Respond to apartment and/or resident issues.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Corps’ Leader in the daily operations and oversight of the Santa Monica Corps in the following areas:
  • Clean all rooms, kitchen, and offices of corps building.
  • Fix and repair any facility issues on property. Must be a handy man with skill set to repair broken items around corps building.
  • Responsible for cleaning outside grounds, parking areas, and vegetation around building, in front of the building and inside courtyard.
  • Power-wash sidewalks, front patio, and parking lot as needed.
  • Responsible to check up on all light fixtures throughout the building.
  • Pick up materials as directed throughout year, seasonal and off season. Pick-ups, drop offs, etc.
  • Maintain safe, clean, welcoming environment in and around alleyway between Silvercrest and Corps.
  • Greet guests, Silvercrest residents, and Corps visitors and assist in directing guests to appropriate designation.
  • All other related duties as assigned by the Corps Leader and Silvercrest Maintenance Team.

Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.  Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 

Minimum Qualifications     

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 year minimum experience in maintenance work.
  • Clean MVR
  • Working knowledge of building maintenance
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to make all repairs as required around the building
  • Must be able to work under minimal to no supervision, if necessary

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Driving test and clean MVR (if applicable)
  • Working knowledge and experience in maintenance and handy man duties.
  • If working within the vicinity of children a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
