Job description

Material Handler I, Trainee

Connexus Energy is seeking a Material Handler I, Trainee. As a Material Handler I, Trainee, you perform a variety of warehousing duties to ensure the proper storage and handling of materials and equipment. Provide a high level of customer service and maintain inventory systems and paperwork in an accurate, organized and timely manner.

Compensation:

The anticipated hiring wage for the Trainee, Material Handler I is $30.61 per hour. The full-scale rate for a Material Handler II is $42.52. A candidate's experience and performance will determine what level they are qualified for per the union contract. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 5% of annual earnings based on company performance.

In this position, you will:

  • Receive and store material in a timely and orderly manner. This includes inspecting material for damage, utilizing an ERP system, and reconciling material to the packing list and purchase order.
  • Operate a forklift within the warehouse and yard.
  • Loading materials on trucks for delivery.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy to ensure documentation supports the transfer of materials.
  • Processing salvaged or returned materials back to inventory.
  • Perform inventory cycle counting.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Operate a truck to deliver materials and documentation to crews.
  • Ship materials to third parties following a prescribed process, procedures, and regulations.
  • Repair streetlights by performing duties such as painting, installing new parts, and re-wiring.

Need to have:

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma
  • Minimum one-year minimum work history in a warehouse
  • Current and valid driver's license and valid health card.
  • Ability to achieve forklift certification
  • Computer navigation and query capabilities in inventory and purchasing modules in materials management system
  • Ability to successfully meet the physical abilities requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation:
    • Frequently working outdoors with noise exposure.
    • Repetitive motion: data entry, counting parts, stocking, etc.
    • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, balance, and reach.
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs throughout the workday.
    • Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs.
    • Ability to lift (floor to waist) up to 75 lbs.
    • Ability to lift (waist to shoulder level) up to 65 lbs.
    • Ability to carry up to 75 lbs. with two hands

Nice to have:

  • Maintenance, repair, and operations experience is a plus
  • Previous experience with an ERP system
  • Knowledge of material reporting procedures by field crews
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word)

Other information:

  • Winter hours Monday - Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Summer hours (Memorial-day to Labor-day) Monday - Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
