Role OverviewThe Occupational Therapist will plan, organize, and implement therapy programs to help patients improve daily living and functional skills. This role includes a focus on upper extremity and hand therapy (preferred), working with individuals recovering from injuries, surgeries, or conditions affecting hand and arm function. The therapist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide therapy in accordance with established clinical protocols
Deliver comprehensive patient care and monitor progress
Maintain accurate and timely documentation (evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, etc.)
Educate patients on treatment plans, home exercises, and compliance
Ensure adherence to scheduled appointments and minimize no-shows
Delegate appropriate tasks to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA)
Supervise OTAs and support staff activities
Collaborate with physicians and rehabilitation team members
Assist with patient scheduling and occasional front desk duties
Design and implement therapeutic activities to improve daily living skills
Provide treatment for upper extremity conditions, including hand and wrist rehabilitation (preferred)
Fabricate or recommend splints/orthotics as appropriate (preferred)
Support patients in developing functional, vocational, and social skills
Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Education & RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
Active State Occupational Therapy License (or eligibility)
Valid Driver's License
Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification preferred (or strong experience in hand/upper extremity therapy)
Experience1-2 years of related experience preferred
Experience in outpatient and/or hand therapy is a plus
Open to candidates with equivalent education/training combinations
Required Knowledge & SkillsStrong understanding of occupational therapy practices and rehabilitation techniques
Knowledge of upper extremity and hand therapy principles (preferred)
Familiarity with documentation standards and healthcare regulations
Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer applications
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret medical and technical information
AbilitiesAbility to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Strong patient engagement and relationship-building skills
Ability to present information clearly to patients and stakeholders
Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Work Environment & Physical DemandsClinical and rehabilitation setting
Requires standing, walking, bending, and assisting patients
Frequent lifting (up to 25 lbs) and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
