What are some common challenges hand models face on the job?

Hand models often encounter challenges such as maintaining flawless skin and nail health, as even minor blemishes or imperfections can impact job opportunities. Consistency in hand care routines is crucial, and avoiding activities that could lead to cuts, bruises, or sun damage is part of the daily responsibility. Additionally, hand models must develop the ability to hold precise and sometimes uncomfortable poses for extended periods during shoots, requiring patience and stamina. Working closely with photographers, stylists, and art directors is also common, so strong communication and adaptability are essential for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Hand Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Hand Model, you need well-groomed hands, symmetrical fingers, clear skin, and attention to personal care, often with experience in modeling or related fields. Familiarity with posing techniques, industry-standard photography, and sometimes agency representation are typical requirements. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to take direction well are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure that hand models consistently meet client expectations for close-up product shots, commercials, and advertising campaigns.

Is 25 too old to start modelling?

Hand modeling is a niche industry where age is less restrictive than in other modeling fields; many successful hand models start in their 20s or later. Having well-maintained skin, good grooming, and specific skills can be more important than age, making 25 a viable age to begin a hand modeling career.

How much do hand models get paid?

Hand models typically earn between $200 and $1,000 per day, depending on experience, the project, and the usage rights. Rates can vary widely, with top models earning higher fees for commercial campaigns or long-term contracts.

What is a hand model?

A hand model is a professional who uses their hands to display products for photography, commercials, or films. Their hands are often featured in advertisements for jewelry, cosmetics, hand creams, or other items that require close-up shots of hands. Hand models must maintain their hands in excellent condition and may work with agencies or directly with clients. The job often involves holding products, performing specific gestures, or demonstrating how to use items. Attention to detail, patience, and flexibility are important traits for success in this field.

Job description

Talkiatry is a virtual mental health practice built by clinicians, for clinicians. Our care model, workflows, and infrastructure are intentionally designed to support high-quality outpatient care and expand access to patients with the care they need.

This role is designed for independently licensed therapists who want:

  • Predictable, W-2 compensation and full benefits

  • Flexible scheduling within a structured outpatient model

  • Minimal administrative burden in a fully remote environment

  • Clear expectations around caseload, documentation, and pace

  • Our outpatient therapy model is intentionally built for virtual care, not retrofitted from inpatient or hospital systems, allowing you to deliver thoughtful and structured care.

What your day-to-day practice looks like:

  • 100% remote, outpatient therapy

  • Lower to moderate acuity populations (ex. anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, others)

  • Standard session lengths (60-minute intakes and follow-ups)

  • Consistent outpatient caseload with defined, transparent goals

  • No inpatient, IOP/PHP, or crisis-call responsibilities

  • In-house referral network to/from psychiatrists

  • Full operational support including scheduling, billing, intake coordination, credentialing, and licensing

Clinical autonomy & flexibility:

  • Independent treatment decision-making

  • Input into schedule and weekly availability within operational guidelines

  • Clinical approach within evidence-based standards

  • Care expectations are shaped by practicing clinicians, reinforcing professional judgment, and shared accountability for quality.

  • You practice independently, with accessible clinical leadership available for consultation and support. Our role is to remove administrative work so you can focus on patient care. This model works best for clinicians who value delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients.

What we're looking for:

  • Independently licensed therapists (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC or equivalent)

  • Active, unrestricted license (multi-state licensing support available)

  • Two or more independent and active state licenses (except for CA, NY and MA)

  • Comfort managing a consistent outpatient caseload

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and independent decision-making

  • Comfort practicing in a fast-paced but sustainable outpatient environment

  • (Highly desired) Experience from outpatient, community mental health, hospital, IOP, or other structured clinical settings

  • (Highly desired) Experience with structured, skills-based modalities (ex. CBT, ACT, MI, DBT-informed care)

  • Please note, this role is not designed for clinicians seeking supervision toward licensure or those looking to build a fully self-directed 1099/Private Practice. You will be a part of our team!

Compensation, Benefits & Stability:

  • Full-time and part-time W-2 employment

  • $70k with the ability to earn up to $20k in incentives (Therapists with a CA license in hand are eligible for base salary of $90K+ monthly productivity incentive.)

  • Tenure-based increases after 2 years

  • Employer-paid health, dental, vision insurance (up to 100% of premiums)

  • 401(k) match with employer match

  • Paid time off (PTO), paid sick time and 11 paid holidays

  • Paid parental leave and long-term retention benefits (ex. 4-week paid sabbatical after 5 years)

  • Malpractice coverage (occurrence-based, 100% employer-paid)

  • CME reimbursement and dedicated CME days

  • Licensing support with upfront coverage of costs

  • Technology package provided

Through dedicated administrative support, thoughtful technology, and a collaborative clinical community, we help psychiatrists spend less time navigating healthcare systems and more time focused on patient care.
