Belcan is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support the Quality Manager and lead department quality engineers with updating quality systems, compliance, metrics and support daily meetings. The collection and classification of data on non-conforming hardware will also be needed. There will be other miscellaneous quality tasks as well. This position will interact with shop floor operators, supervisors and other salary personnel to update procedures, complete customer surveys, participate in audits and complete quality screeners.
Ideal Candidate:
* GD&T knowledge and extensive blueprint reading experience, including interpreting complex assemblies.
* Proven experience in reading, interpreting, and writing aerospace specifications, work instructions, and standards (internal and industry-wide).
* Ability to collect and interpret Quality performance data using appropriate software tools.
* Experience with Inspection methodologies (CMM knowledge is a major plus but not essential).
* Familiarity with FAI (First Article Inspections) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), including PFMEA and Control Plans.
* Experience with reading and writing Quality Notifications (QNs).
* Must be legally authorized to work in the US; US citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in tracking, documenting, and managing non-conforming hardware with quality tools.
* Review and approve Vendor Operation Sheets and ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with suppliers, customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
* Perform inspection planning and utilize GD&T principles to ensure dimensional compliance of assemblies.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams in FAI and PPAP activities.
* Participate in Quality performance data collection and analysis, identifying trends and driving corrective actions to improve quality outcomes.
* Support Manufacturing Process Reviews and controlled builds as required.
While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:
* Experience performing internal audits to assess compliance with AS9100 and other standards.
* Familiarity with SAP and/or Solumina for quality and production workflows.
* Knowledge of ASQR-01 and/or Collins Aerospace (UTAS, Hamilton Sundstrand) specifications.
* Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies.
