Job description

Job Title: Sticker-Halal Blesser
Location: Green Bay, WI
Reporting to: Harvest Production Supervisor
 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Verify that all animals are properly stunned and insensible prior to sticking, in accordance with company animal welfare and food safety policies.
  • Perform the Bismillah prayer audibly on each carcass at the time of sticking, ensuring compliance with halal certification standards.
  • Execute proper stick procedure by entering the knife wound with an up and back motion to cut pulmonary artery.
  • Maintain humane handling and religious compliance throughout the slaughter process.
  • Ensure that all equipment is cleaned, sanitized and maintained as needed.
  • Wash hands and follow all sanitation requirements between operations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and quality assurance to ensure adherence to regulatory and religious requirements.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with JBS Food and Safety Policy, USDA regulations, and third-party halal certification standards.
Experience Required:
  • Must complete third party Halal Blesser Certification Training and maintain active certification status.
  • Basic understanding of humane slaughter processes preferred.
  • Experience in a meat or food processing environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Must be a believing (but not necessarily practicing) individual of the Muslim faith to meet certification requirements.
