Job description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Manager with strong knowledge of African American hair care to support daily store operations in a retail beauty supply environment. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on customer service, focusing on wigs, weaves, braiding hair, extensions, and textured hair care products. The ideal candidate is experienced in beauty retail, confident in team supervision, and passionate about helping customers find the right solutions for natural, relaxed, and protective styles.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Hair Team Lead in overseeing daily operations, including opening/closing procedures
  • Provide expert customer service and product recommendations tailored to textured and African American hair types
  • Assist customers with selecting wigs, bundles, braiding hair, and extensions, including guidance on lace fronts, closures, and maintenance
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff on product knowledge, customer service standards, and sales techniques
  • Ensure the store is clean, organized, and visually merchandised to maximize sales
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels; assist with ordering, stocking, and loss prevention
  • Handle customer concerns, returns, and escalations professionally
  • Track sales performance and help drive team to meet or exceed store goals
  • Stay current on trends in natural hair care, protective styling, and beauty products
  • Step in as acting manager in the absence of the Store Manager

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of retail experience, preferably in beauty supply or hair care industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of African American hair textures, products, and protective styles
  • Experience with wigs, weaves, braiding hair, and extensions required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Cosmetology background or license is a plus (not required unless mandated by state law)
