Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Aerospace Machinist Lead, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The Aerospace Machinist Lead will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
Open to internal candidates only.
The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift, and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be under general supervision, as a working group leader over lower grade craftsmen, directs and performs a wide variety of technical, mechanical, electrical, and manual work in the testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an Engineering Test Facility.
Job Duties:
  • Preparing Test Facility equipment for operations
  • Prepare test articles for testing
  • Install test articles and checks installation
  • Troubleshoots equipment, test articles, and installations in case of malfunctions
  • Operates plant and test equipment during tests
  • Assists in tests and operates test articles such as controls for engines and rockets; removes test articles after tests
  • Installs and maintains facility systems; accomplishes maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep test facility equipment in operation
  • Uses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipment
  • Instructs less experienced lower-level grade craftsmen
  • Perform other duties as required
  • It is a condition of employment to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
  • Must be able/available to work different work shifts and schedules

Basic Qualifications:
  • Six years of machinist experience in the working section of an Aeronautical Test Facility. Progressive experience as an Aerospace Machinist, Machinist, Millwright, Aircraft Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Ability to skillfully operate and work with the wide variety of hand and machine tools associated with trade
  • Must be able to direct the work of lower grade craftsman
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
  • Must have a valid driver's license
