Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gunsmith will provide World-Class service to all customers interested in purchasing merchandise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides a legendary experience for every customer.
  • Assists customers with purchases.
  • Identifies and evaluates customers' needs.
  • Makes product recommendations .
  • Promotes programs including, but not limited to CLUB Membership, VOC and In-Store Pick-up
  • Good health record and must be able to pass a drug screen test and a lung capacity test prior to employment and yearly thereafter.
  • No medical issues which would make working around chemicals or dust a problem.
  • Prior to obtaining employment the person being considered will undergo an interview with the Corporate Gunsmith and the Fine Gun Room Manager at the location they are to be employed. There may be other interviews also with Store Managers, administrative and operations persons.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: An apprenticeship or college degree
  • Experience: At least 2 years of actual bench/shop experience on shotguns, rifles and handguns.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
  • Working knowledge of machinery used in a gunsmith shop. Machinery such as a lathe, grinder, sander, etc.
  • At all times the appropriate clothing will be worn by the gunsmith. This is to include a quality shoe or boot (no tennis shoes) jeans or twill type pants, a button or polo type shirt (no T-Shirts) of nonflammable material. At no time will the gunsmith wear jewelry on hands or arms.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Gunsmith should have or be willing to obtain certification from gun manufacturers as a factory trained repair person. This will require some travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good health record and must be able to pass a drug screen test and a lung capacity test prior to employment and yearly thereafter.
  • No medical issues which would make working around chemicals or dust a problem.
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50 pounds minimum.
  • Adhere to and follow the dress code and personal hygiene established by Bass Pro Shops.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
