Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a strong interest in Hospital Medicine. This is a 1.0 FTE position working at Gundersen Tri County in Whitehall, WI. Emplify Health by Gundersen Tri-County is one of six critical access hospitals within the Gundersen Health System network.
This clinician will be responsible for the medical care of our hospitalized patients at Emplify Health by Gundersen Tri County Hospital and Clinics. Emplify Health by Gundersen Tri County is a 24-bed critical access hospital and a Level IV Trauma center. Responsibilities will include admission H&P, daily evaluation, diagnostic and treatment decisions, discharge planning and documentation, and working with the interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and social workers. Physician support will be provided through telemedicine-based oversight from the hospitalist physicians of Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
Practice highlights:
  • Daytime 8-hour shift
  • The full-time work schedule is 7 days on, followed by 7 days off.
  • Physician telehospitalist coverage is provided by an internal medicine hospitalist team comprised of 25 physicians.
  • Telehospitalists provide daytime supervision/support and take overnight calls and admissions.
  • The average daily census is 14-18 patients with acute care and post-acute care status.
