Job description

To prepare, bake and display product in the department in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner while ensuring that all product is fresh, rotated, and well-stocked for our customers while maintaining great customer service.


  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of baking techniques.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and interact positively with customers.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
  • Authorized to work within the U.S.

  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
  • Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associates to build a strong bakery team.
  • Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
  • Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise. Check and verify receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered. Check products for quality, count, and condition.
  • Keep all bakery ingredients or merchandise rotated in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first (first in, first out).
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory control.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  • Take stock to storage or shelf areas.
  • Prepare all baking mixtures in accordance with established company or department procedures and recipes.
  • Pan up frozen products and pan and roll up bread.
  • Load and unload over. Know the proper temperatures and duration to bake all varieties of products.
  • Operate mixer and write on cakes/prepare product to meet customers specifications.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health and packaging requirements.
  • Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain a neat, well groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code, along with wearing approved hat or hair net.
  • Keep display cases, cooler and freezer organized and clean, along with cleaning walls, fans, drains, equipment, utensils, and work tables. Wipe counter tops and front display cases.
  • Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest cost supply.
  • Promote items on public address system.
  • Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
