About the Role:

The Counter Sales position serves as a key point of contact for customers, providing knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly service at the sales counter and over the phone. This role is responsible for assisting customers with product selection, order fulfillment, inventory support, and problem-solving while ensuring an organized and welcoming counter environment. The Counter Sales team members work closely with customers, warehouse personnel, and supervisors to support daily operations, cultivate customer relationships, and contribute to sales growth. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, basic technical aptitude, and a commitment to teamwork, service excellence, and the company’s core values. HVAC, plumbing, waterworks knowledge!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a high level of customer service is always provided
  • Greet and assist customers promptly to ensure a welcoming and positive counter experience
  • Assist with stocking and keeping counter-area shelves and products clean, faced, stocked, and organized
  • Build and maintain connections with potential customers, or leads, to cultivate new business and develop relationships
  • Ascertain the type of part, fixture, or supply needed
  • Inspect worn, damaged, or defective parts to determine replacement required
  • Informs the customer of the part needed according to the description of the malfunction or the customer’s expressed need
  • Maintain a general understanding of part or fixture stock number and price, through training or reading online/catalog
  • Find a solution for customer orders through the substitution or modification of a part when a part is not available
  • Process orders or inquiries over the phone
  • Responsible for Pro-keep orders and communication through the program
  • Pick and fulfill customer orders from stock using radio frequency gun (RF gun) technology
  • Handle product returns
  • Assist with loading customer orders on delivery trucks
  • Perform other various duties, as outlined by the supervisor

Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

  • One year of related experience
  • Willingness to participate in pre-employment and random drug screenings
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Human relations skills; oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company systems
