Job description

Music Coordinator

We are seeking an energetic, creative, and organized Part-Time Music Coordinator (average 25 hours/week) to support and grow our Mandel JCC Music and Community Arts programming across our Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens locations. The ideal candidate will be flexible to work at both sites, with a heavier focus on Boynton Beach. They will have experience working with children in a creative environment, are musically skilled, and thrive in a collaborative, community-focused environment. Reporting to our Music and Performing Arts Manager, you will spend sixty percent of the time orchestrating and leading preschool music classes, enrichment classes and Shabbat programming, and the remaining forty percent focused on our JCC’s theatre program, and overall department support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support children’s music classes, enrichment programs, community performances and events, to include our Friday Children/Family Shabbat series.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of the music program to include holiday events, Jewish Life programming, and special performances
  • Sing and play instruments during classes, rehearsals, and performances (guitar, piano and/or drums preferred)
  • Collaborate on music curriculum development, programming, classes, and an overall musical presence within our preschool and after-care student populations.
  • Assist with basic musical theatre tech including sound, musical, lighting, stage set-up and troubleshooting
  • Foster a warm, engaging, and inclusive environment for children, teens, families, performers, and audiences
  • Coordinate logistics and execution across both our Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens sites.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in music in a theatre, camp, educational, or enrichment setting
  • Background in music, musical performance, singing, and/or instruments.
  • Ability to sing and confidently lead musical activities and performances
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in fast-paced live program environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in piano, drums, and/or guitar
  • Experience providing any type of music lessons
  • Exposure to sound systems, stage lighting, or other musical theater technology 
  • Flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances
  • Familiarity with traditional and/or contemporary Jewish music (holidays and other)

This role is ideal for someone passionate about music, creative arts education, and building meaningful community experiences through music. We are open to someone with a diverse level of experience, from student to seasoned veteran.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (20-25 pounds) bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, standing and sitting.
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Noise level varies depending on time of year and at times can be loud.
