Job description

Location: Anywhere in Country

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence. We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help build a better working world.

EY is a leader in serving the global financial services marketplace and the only professional services firm with a separate business unit dedicated to the financial services industry – the Financial Services Organization (FSO). Our focused model and bold ambition have put us at the center of the events that continue to reshape and redefine our industry, working side by side with a range of clients from our most venerable institutions to dynamic new entrants across Banking and Capital Markets, Wealth and Asset Management, Insurance, and Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction. Our purpose is to help build a financial services industry in which financial institutions are trusted and flourish, and the global economy is healthy, growing and secure. If you have a passion for rallying together to solve complex challenges, then come join our dynamic FSO team!

The opportunity

Insurers across the globe are investing heavily in technology‑enabled transformation programs, with digital customer, agent, and partner experiences emerging as the most critical “hot spot” alongside claims, underwriting, policy, and billing. Our ambition is to be the C‑suite advisor for insurance technology‑enabled transformation programs, recognized by our clients for our insightful thought leadership, pro‑activity in meeting their needs and having truly globally integrated capabilities.

As a Senior Manager in EY’s Guidewire practice, you will lead the delivery, transformation, and optimization of Guidewire programs across multiple client engagements. You will be responsible for shaping target‑state digital architectures, driving market activation for our Guidewire services, and building senior client relationships, while ensuring alignment with EY’s quality standards and client expectations. This role requires a strong leader with deep experience in Guidewire Platform across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, Digital (Jutro, Enterprise Engage, Portals), front‑end engineering, micro‑frontend architecture, and agile delivery models.

Typical programs will span the following areas of insurance technology‑enabled transformation:

  • Guidewire System Implementation (Policy, Billing, Claims, Digital)
  • Guidewire Digital Portals, Jutro Digital Platform, and Enterprise Engage
  • Enterprise Data Management
  • Reinsurance Accounting and Reporting Operations/Technology
  • Performance Management and Measurement
  • Enterprise Technology Expense Reduction
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of large, multi‑release Guidewire programs across multiple client engagements – from inception through hypercare – including environment strategy, release planning, and cutover execution for PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter and Digital portals.
  • Define and own target‑state architectures integrating core Guidewire applications, digital portals, rating, CRM, document management, data, and financial systems using APIs, micro‑frontends, messaging, and Guidewire accelerators.
  • Establish non‑functional requirements, performance engineering strategies, and accessibility standards, and oversee data conversion, migration, reporting, and analytics design across all channels.
  • Drive market activation for EY’s Guidewire services – including pipeline development, offering design, pursuit support, pricing, proposals, and go‑to‑market asset creation – while building and sustaining senior client relationships and serving as a trusted advisor on transformations.
  • Develop and operationalize reusable Guidewire assets and accelerators, including packaging and publishing them for availability in the Guidewire Marketplace.
  • Build and manage delivery teams, budgets, roadmaps, governance, risk management, vendor coordination, user acceptance testing, training, release readiness, and production support operating models.
  • Provide strategic input into EY’s Guidewire practice strategy, innovate delivery processes, and contribute to thought leadership, points of view, and eminence in the marketplace.
  • Mentor and develop top‑performing teams, foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, and ensure compliance with EY’s risk management, independence, and security standards.
Skills and attributes for success
  • Guidewire Leadership: Deep expertise in architecting, developing, and customizing Guidewire applications, including Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter and Jutro Digital Platform.
  • Guidewire Architecture: Strong understanding of Guidewire’s architecture, micro‑frontends, Advanced Product Designer, Authentication/Authorization, APIs, and configuration; ability to architect customized solutions that adapt into existing application ecosystems.
  • Accelerator & Marketplace Strategy: Proven ability to develop and operationalize Guidewire assets and accelerators, including packaging and publishing them for availability in the Guidewire Marketplace.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical capabilities and engineering leadership that support the insurance technology system implementation process at scale.
  • Remain current on new developments in services capabilities and industry knowledge, and translate them into client value and EY offerings.
  • Lend specific subject‑matter knowledge to the strategy, design, and integration phases of each program, helping to give specificity to the appropriate architecture, data model, system design, and interfacing requirements.
  • Advise C‑suite and senior client stakeholders on a variety of business process services that help identify, assess, manage, and measure the organization’s capabilities; team with client technology professionals or third‑party strategic alliances to provide implementation of technology solutions.
  • Lead client engagement teams with diverse skills and backgrounds; foster an innovative, inclusive, team‑oriented work environment, and act as a people developer and career counselor.
To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or a related field, with 10+ years of relevant work experience at a Property and Casualty Insurance carrier or consulting firm; or a master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or a related field with 8+ years of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing large, multi‑workstream Guidewire or digital transformation programs, including budget, delivery, and people accountability.
  • Previous application experience in any of: Guidewire, JUTRO, REACT JS, Angular, Enterprise Webservices, OneShield, Exigen, MajescoMastek, DuckCreek, FirstBest, Business Objects, Cognos, Informatica, FIGMA.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following competencies:

    • System selection and implementation
    • Definition of business and technical requirements
    • Design of business and technology architecture
    • Application configuration/integration
    • Data mapping, conversion, migration
  • Demonstrated ability to lead system implementation through all phases of the project life cycle, including requirements definition, architecture design, conversion, and testing; based on a proven methodology.
  • Experience implementing best practices of software engineering processes, code review methodologies, and deploying code optimization tools and techniques across global delivery teams.
  • Experience creating POCs for complex design methodologies and providing alternative solution options, working closely with client counterparts and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical writing, executive‑level client presentations, and proposal development.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking through a proven ability to research client inquiries and emerging issues related to regulations, industry practice, and new application technologies.
  • Proven experience in business development, including pipeline generation, pursuit leadership, proposal authoring, and pricing for digital transformation engagements.
  • Ability to travel 50–75% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Guidewire certifications across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, Integration, Cloud, and/or Digital.
  • Experience with management reporting enhancement, business intelligence/decision support, data warehousing/enterprise data design and management, or enterprise application integration.
  • Experience performing impact analyses and driving end‑to‑end solutions across connecting systems and digital channels.
  • Experience with cloud and DevOps tooling for Guidewire (AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SonarQube) and observability platforms.
  • Experience leading global delivery teams and Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, and/or SAFe).
  • Experience publishing Guidewire Marketplace assets or contributing to Guidewire PartnerConnect initiatives.

In addition to base, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client‑serving roles to work together in person 40–60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
  • Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
