POSITION OVERVIEW

Montessori Kids Universe (MKU) Stone Oak is seeking a warm, reliable, and collaborative Assistant Teacher to join our team in San Antonio, TX. The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in creating and maintaining a peaceful, orderly, and nurturing Montessori classroom where every child feels safe, respected, and cared for.

Working in close partnership with the Lead Guide Teacher, the Assistant Teacher supports daily lesson implementation, student supervision, classroom preparation, and physical care routines. This role is ideal for dedicated individuals with early childcare experience who are eager to grow their careers within a supportive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Classroom & Instructional Support: Assist the Lead Guide Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities, lessons, and Montessori principles with consistency and grace.
  • Student Supervision & Safety: Provide attentive supervision during indoor learning, outdoor play, arrival, dismissal, and all daily transitions while maintaining state licensing health, safety, and ratio standards.
  • Daily Care Routines: Support children with personal care routines (toileting, diapering, dressing, handwashing, eating, and napping) using a respectful, patient, and age-appropriate approach.
  • Environment Preparation & Maintenance: Help prepare the classroom before arrival and restore it after daily work cycles; clean, sanitize, and ensure Montessori materials are complete and organized on shelves.
  • Team Collaboration & Modeling: Follow the direction of the Lead Guide with a proactive, team-player attitude, reinforcing expectations through gentle modeling and positive redirection.
  • Observation & Progress Insights: Observe children respectfully during work time and share meaningful behavioral and developmental insights with the Lead Guide.

QUALIFICATIONS & NON-NEGOTIABLES

Age Requirement :

Must be 21 years of age or older (Mandatory non-negotiable).

Minimum Experience :

Minimum 1 year of professional experience in childcare, daycare, preschool, teaching assistant, or related early childhood settings.

Certifications (At Hire) :

 No initial certifications required at hire. Must be willing to complete required Texas childcare certifications within 6 months of employment. CPR certification preferred.

Language Requirements :

Open to English-speaking only, Spanish-speaking only, or Bilingual candidates. Language is not a hiring barrier.
