Job description

Momence Community Unit School District 1 Paraprofessional Job Description Je-Neir Elementary School is seeking two (2) paraprofessionals for the 2026-2027 school year. Qualifications:
  • Hold a valid Illinois Paraprofessional Certification
  • Classroom assistance experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success and understanding of working with students of diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Able to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively
Reports to: Building administrator Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities: Paraprofessionals have a wide range of duties inside and out of the classroom. Duties and responsibilities including but not limited to:
  • Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior
  • Help teachers keep records for grading and attendance
  • Get materials and equipment ready to help teachers prepare for class
  • Reinforce lessons by reviewing material one-on-one and in small groups with students
  • Supervise students during morning pod time, breakfast, lunch, recess, or dismissal as well as in between classes, assemblies or on field trips
  • Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept
  • Assists teachers with non-instructional classroom duties
  • Participates in professional development programs.
  • Maintain the same level of confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school setting pertaining to MCUSD #1.
  • Attends meetings and inservice presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
Terms of Employment:
  • Work days mirror teacher working days including all student sessions days and 5 Staff Institute Days.
  • Building / Working assignments could vary depending upon student needs but will remain consistent day to day once assignments are made.
  • Salary: $15.70 per hour
