Chelsea Piers is seeking to hire Guest Services Officers. A Guest Services Officer is the first person guests see when they come to Chelsea Piers. Officers set the initial expectation of customer service at Chelsea Piers. They must greet all customers professionally and courteously, assist them with questions, and give directions to specific sites. Guest Services Officers are also responsible for maintaining a safe place for all our customers and employees.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet visitors and provide information and directions courteously and professionally
  • Maintain safe, secure, and orderly sites and facilities
  • Direct customer vehicles to proper parking locations and open spots, direct delivery and commercial vehicles to their drop-off and loading areas, direct cars, bikes, and pedestrians at crosswalks
  • Report any/all hazardous situations
  • Prohibit loitering, onsite consumption of alcohol, and use of illegal drugs
  • Assist maintenance and parking departments when necessary, including seasonal snow removal
  • Walk the site to guard against vandalism and theft
  • Make scheduled facility rounds to ensure proper safety throughout the complex
  • Complete accident reports when appropriate
  • When closed, ensure all doors are securely locked and that there are no unauthorized persons in the complex
  • Reporting boat arrivals and departures
Qualifications

You are friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working in a team environment. You have:

  • Superior customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds
  • Ability to remain on feet, either standing at post or walking assigned area, for up to six hours at a time
  • Ability to be outside in the elements while on exterior posts
  • Ability to convey authority respectfully and professionally
  • Ability to maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times

If you do not have already have the following certifications, you will have to obtain:

  • FDNY Fire Guard certification F-03 and F-01 within the first ninety (90) days of employment
  • Flagger Certification within the first six (6) months of employment
