Job description

Travel: 5+ trips a year, wherever the internet decides to happen.

The role in one line: You run Underdog's reactive stunt marketing from idea to punchline to receipt: spotting a cultural moment, building something worth pointing a phone at, and getting it live before the moment's gone cold.

What The Rascals do: We're the team behind Unethical Hoops. We don't buy attention, we make things worth pointing a phone at. If a cultural moment is happening, a trade, a beef, a meme, a "did that really just happen," we want Underdog's name inside it within 24 hours.

What you'll actually do:
  • Spot cultural moments as they're happening and pitch a stunt idea fast, before the moment cools off.
  • Build the stunt yourself, from concept to execution. That can mean writing the idea, coordinating a quick vendor or prop, or lining up whatever it takes to make it real.
  • Get it live fast. A 6am group chat idea should be able to go live by lunch, with you driving it the whole way.
  • Capture the content and get it into the hands of the right distro and meme accounts, the ones that actually move the needle, not just the ones with the biggest following.
  • Coordinate quickly with social, partnerships, legal, and design to get things approved and out the door without slowing down or causing a mess.
  • Track performance after the fact. Pull EMV and impressions, but also pay attention to the reactions and momentum that don't show up in a spreadsheet.

The one non-negotiable: You need to already be online in a way that's hard to fake. We can teach vendor management and budgets. We can't teach someone to feel what's happening on the internet in real time. If you've ever run a meme account, built something out of nothing on social media, or have opinions about sports and X drama from eight months ago that nobody asked for, you're probably our person.

Nice to have:
  • You've pulled off a stunt or activation before, something that lived in the real world, not just a feed
  • You get how clipping works
  • Time spent inside gaming, streaming, or creator culture
  • A content background: run a meme account, done creator or influencer partnerships, or built an audience from scratch
  • A sports brain, close enough to the action to feel a moment breaking before it trends

Who this is for: Someone who wants their whole job to be figuring out what everyone's going to talk about tomorrow, and gets genuinely annoyed when a moment happens and we're not in it.

Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $100,000, plus target equity. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, skills and expertise, interview performance, and other market considerations.

What we can offer you:
  • Unlimited PTO for full-time employees (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before and into the NFL season)
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave
  • Home office stipend
  • A virtual-first culture, but we come together a few times per year in person for offsites, trainings, hackathons, and more
  • Slack reactions for every occasion
  • 401k with up to 5% employer match
  • Company paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependents, FSA, and more
  • Opportunity to celebrate your favorite sports teams through local meetups and company-sponsored events
  • Claude and ChatGPT enterprise accounts
