Utah School Guardian Program
Location: Utah
Schedule: Monday - Friday | Day Shift
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
Position Overview
The Utah School Guardian Program is seeking experienced, highly professional individuals-particularly former or recently retired law enforcement officers-to serve as School Guardians. This role is critical in maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff.
School Guardians act as a deterrent to threats, while also serving as trusted, approachable figures within the school community. This position blends security expertise with community engagement, requiring both tactical readiness and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a consistent security presence on assigned school campuses
  • Monitor and control access points to ensure campus safety
  • Respond quickly and effectively to potential threats or emergencies
  • Build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Conduct routine patrols and security assessments
  • Coordinate with school administration and local law enforcement when necessary
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and detailed incident reports; demonstrate exceptional written documentation skills and full accountability to actions taken.
Preferred Background
  • Former or recently retired law enforcement officer (strongly preferred)
  • Prior military police or armed security experience may also be considered
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Armed Security License (Utah) / Ability to obtain
  • Valid Concealed Carry Permit / Ability to obtain
