Guardian also seeks to diversify and partner with private and public partners to provide innovative medical services in education, transport, home care and community health.

Our providers are here to answer the call! We provide critical, advanced, or basic life support for hospital patients during medical transport. We also can be contracted for events or organizations needing stand-by onsite EMS medical response or supervision.

About the Role:

Guardian is seeking a certified Paramedic to join our team of professionals to provide interfacility patient transport and medical care.

When released by our medical director you will be caring for basic, ALS, and critically ill patients as defined by the state of Virginia and our advanced medical protocols. We carry HT70 ventilators for patient's 5-100 kg, IV pumps, and supportive pharmaceuticals for RSI and sedation. The majority of our paramedics have a minimum of 2 years of experience with the average being 5+ years; and come from various backgrounds including tactical, public, fire, flight and hospital-based. Paramedics participate in continue education with ventilator classes, cadaver labs, and QA participation/review with our medical director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide compassionate patient care as a paramedic following established protocols.
  • Perform duties with the highest level of professionalism, courtesy, and ethics.
  • Communicate with patients and loved ones that all due care is being given.
  • Operate ambulances and medical equipment as required.
  • Maintain good driving record on and off duty and perform and document daily vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient assessment and treatment.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, facility staff members, medical professionals, and other responders via phone or radio.
  • Assist with maintaining office, lounge, garage, and parking area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate or GED certification
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Paramedic Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with company policy
  • Possess and maintain current certifications in the following:
    1. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    4. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
    5. Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) a bonus.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required Physical Abilities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must have the ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
