Job description

Nation Security is seeking a vigilant, dedicated, and highly qualified Armed Campus Security Officer to protect students, staff, and visitors at a premier educational facility in Fort Pierce. In this role, you will serve as the primary physical safety officer on campus, maintaining access control, conducting active patrols, and standing ready to provide immediate threat response and emergency intervention.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Campus Protection & Deterrence: Maintain a high-visibility armed presence across campus grounds, entry gates, and common areas to prevent unauthorized access and deter security threats.

  • Emergency & Active Threat Response: Serve as the immediate first responder to active assailant events, safety breaches, and high-risk incidents in strict accordance with state and school safety protocols.

  • Access Control & Visitor Screening: Verify credentials of all incoming visitors, contractors, and vehicles; manage campus entry portals and secure physical perimeter doors.

  • Routine Safety Patrols: Perform continuous interior and exterior foot/vehicle patrols; inspect physical barriers, emergency exits, and security hardware for operational readiness.

  • De-escalation & Student Safety: Engage positively with the school community while utilizing conflict de-escalation methods to mitigate low-level behavioral issues or campus disruptions.

  • Incident Logging: Complete precise daily activity logs and detailed incident reports using mobile workforce technology.

Mandatory Job Qualifications1. State Licensing & Guardian Credentials
  • Florida School Guardian Certificate: Must possess an active School Guardian Certificate issued by a Florida County Sheriff’s Office pursuant to F.S. § 1006.12 / F.S. § 30.15 (Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program).

    • Note: Candidates with prior Florida law enforcement / military experience who qualify for a Sheriff Guardian waiver, or candidates eligible to complete the 144-hour Sheriff's Guardian Academy, are encouraged to apply.

  • Florida Class "D" Security Officer License: Active state license required.

  • Florida Class "G" Statewide Firearms License: Active state armed security endorsement required.

  • Life Safety Certifications: Active CPR / AED / First Aid certification (Tactical Medical / Stop the Bleed preferred).

2. Vetting & Screening Standards
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years old.

  • Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

  • Background Clearance: Must clear a Level II FBI and FDLE fingerprint background check with zero disqualifying felony or violent misdemeanor records.

  • Psychological & Drug Testing: Must pass a comprehensive psychological evaluation administered by an FDLE-designated Florida-licensed psychologist and pass a 10-panel pre-employment drug screen (plus ongoing random screens).

3. Preferred Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in law enforcement, military service (honorably discharged), or high-level armed security operations.

  • Prior experience working within K-12 educational environments, youth programs, or public-sector security is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct foot patrols outdoors in varying Florida weather conditions for extended periods.

  • Ability to run and physically respond to any point on campus rapidly during an emergency.

  • Meet law enforcement visual and auditory response standards.
