Job description

Guardian Fire & Life Safety Solutions is a locally owned and family-operated fire protection company dedicated to delivering exceptional service, integrity, and life safety solutions to businesses throughout our community.

We are seeking a dependable, motivated Fire Protection Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, installation, and repair of portable fire extinguishers and commercial kitchen fire suppression systems, while also supporting emergency lighting inspections and first aid equipment services. The technician will provide exceptional customer service, represent Guardian with professionalism, and ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and industry standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform annual inspections, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire extinguishers.
  • Conduct semi-annual inspections and maintenance of commercial kitchen fire suppression systems.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and basic maintenance of emergency lighting and exit lighting systems.
  • Inspect, restock, and maintain workplace first aid kits and related safety equipment.
  • Install, replace, recharge, and hydrostatically test fire extinguishers as required.
  • Install and service kitchen fire suppression system components, including cylinders, nozzles, detection lines, pull stations, and control heads.
  • Complete accurate inspection reports, service documentation, inventory records, and compliance reports.
  • Identify deficiencies and communicate repair recommendations to customers and management.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Follow all applicable OSHA, NFPA, and local fire code requirements.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service while representing Guardian Fire & Life Safety Solutions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and maintain industry certifications as required.
  • Assist with additional fire protection and life safety services as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience servicing portable fire extinguishers and/or commercial kitchen fire suppression systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 10, NFPA 17A, and applicable fire codes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current industry certifications related to portable fire extinguishers or kitchen fire suppression systems.
  • Experience with emergency lighting inspections and first aid equipment servicing.
  • Experience using digital inspection and reporting software.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
