Job description

Overview

Scope of Position:ย Provide support and advocacy for foster families and the children in their careย by being a liaison between the family and the State across all areas of the child welfare system, with primary responsibility for foster families located in theย Greater Atlanta region.

Reports to:ย Supervisor, Case Managers - Homes

Responsibilities
  • Acts as a liaison between the foster family and the Child Welfare System communicating with and attending meetings with the Division of Family and Children Services Case Managers, Juvenile Court, Guardian Ad Litem, Court Appointed Special Advocates, School Administration, Therapists and other collateral contacts on behalf of the fosterย family and the foster childย 
  • Ensuresย that each foster family and foster child has the resources andย supportsย that they need to make the placement successful and beneficial for all involved, including being available to the foster family 24/7 for unexpected events or emergencies unless otherwise arrangedย 
  • Works primarily in theย Northeast Greater Atlanta (Gwinnett/Hall County)ย areas and visits with each child a minimum of 2 times per month, one of which must be conducted in the foster homeย 
  • Uploads all required documentation in GA-SHINES, GA-SCORE, and Extended Reach within the time constraints laid out by both Sate and WinShape policyย in order toย maintainย licensure and contracting requirementsย 
  • Keeps the foster family informed at all times of case plans, permanency plans, court hearings, panel reviews, and any other meetings associated with the child(ren) in care as well as continuing education requirements and upcomingย trainingsย 
  • Conducts the actual placement of a child(ren) into foster homes,ย within the assigned service region,ย including participating in rotating on-call night and weekend responsibilities, to ensure paperwork and procedure are completed properlyย 
  • Travelsย throughout theย state, with a focus on theย Northeast Greater Atlanta (Gwinnett/Hallย County)ย areas,ย transporting children, attending meetings and court hearings, and completing visits with foster and biological familiesย 
  • Attends all meetings and trainings required by theย Supervisor, Case Managers - Homes, Director, WinShapeย Foster Careย - Homes, Senior Director,ย WinShape Homes,ย WinShape Foundation, and the State of Georgiaย 
  • Performs other duties as assigned byย Supervisor, Case Managers - Homesย or Director, WinShapeย Foster Careย 
Qualifications

Spiritual:ย 

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community andactivelypursuingChriston a consistent basisย 
  • Commitment to discipleship, prayer, and Bible studyย 
  • Servant leadership as modeled by Jesus Christย 

Education:ย 

  • Possessย aย Bachelor'sย degree from an accredited college or universityย in the area ofย Social Work, Psychology, orย the behavioralย sciencesย 

Professional:ย 

  • 2-4ย yearsย work experience in a child welfare settingย 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, complex problems, andย projects simultaneouslyย 
  • Maintains full time hours and must be present in the Atlanta office when not conducting field work unless otherwise arranged with supervisorย 
  • Must be able to reliably serve foster families in the Northeast Greater Atlanta region (Gwinnett and Hall Counties), including frequent local travel and in-person supportย 
  • Willing and able to work nights and weekendsย 
  • Exemplary planning and time management skillsย 
  • Possesses the ability to use discretion and confidentialityย 
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including telephone, email, written documentation, and face-to-face communicationย 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)ย 
  • Possess a valid driver's license andย has an acceptable driving recordย 

Preferred:ย 

  • Bachelor's orย Master'sย Degreeย in Social Workย 
  • Working knowledge ofย GA SHINES, GA SCORE, andย Extended Reach database systemsย 
  • NTDC Trainerย Certificationย 
  • Livesย inย or willing to work in the Greater Atlantaย area
