Job description

Position Overview
The Grocery Department Manager is responsible for directing and supervising the department manager with all aspects of daily operations and activities of the department. Responsibilities include ensuring the quality, freshness and product assortment is maintained throughout the grocery department(s). Will ensure that receiving, stocking and rotating product, facing product, taking special orders, training new associates and providing exceptional customer service is done in a timely and professional manner. Work to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department; to ensure that the work shifts of all department personnel contribute to the financial best interests of the store.

Description
  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Works with the Asst. Grocery Manager with the successful operation of the department
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services provided
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the department
  • Receives, stores, and stocks a wide variety of products
  • Orders products to meet the needs of the grocery departments based on past and projected sales
  • Pulls out of date product from the shelves
  • Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Department Manager and/or Store Manager
  • Consistent and daily interaction with store associates, customers, and vendors
  • Travel Required: No
