Job Description
A large aerospace and defense organization is hiring a Junior SOC Monitoring Analyst to join its cybersecurity operations team in Farmington, CT. This is a great opportunity for an early-career cybersecurity professional looking to gain hands-on experience within a large enterprise security environment.
In this role, you will monitor and investigate security alerts across networks, endpoints, servers, firewalls, and other systems. You will analyze potential threats, determine the appropriate response or escalation, and work closely with other cybersecurity and IT teams to help protect critical systems. You will also assist with incident response, security event analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or a related technical field
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and security operations
  • Knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP and network security
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or UNIX operating systems
  • Understanding of security logs, system logs, and firewall logs
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented technical environment
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with SIEM or enterprise logging platforms such as Splunk
  • Familiarity with Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar network analysis tools
  • Exposure to endpoint security platforms
  • Additional cybersecurity certifications such as Network+, CySA+, CEH, GSEC, GCIH, or GIAC
  • Cloud certifications or cybersecurity boot camp training
  • Strong interest and passion for cybersecurity
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze cybersecurity alerts from multiple security tools
  • Investigate suspicious activity and potential threats
  • Review network, endpoint, firewall, and system logs
  • Escalate security incidents based on established procedures
  • Assist with incident response and security investigations
  • Troubleshoot technical security issues
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams
  • Follow and maintain security procedures and documentation
