Job Title: GROW Trainer
Reports To: Regional Resources Team Supervisor
Status: Contingent
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Our Mission: To provide expert, comprehensive services that strengthen children, adults and families impacted by abuse and neglect, autism, developmental, behavioral and physical health challenges so they can achieve whole health, well-being and maximum potential.

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of a GROW Trainer is to provide in person GROW training to kinship, foster and adoptive families. One on one training may be provided to families as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
GROW Trainer must:
  1. Present to small and large groups
  2. Participates in required trainings.
  3. Attend all scheduled team meetings.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of the child welfare system and licensing rules.
  2. Experience in a child placing agency is required.
  3. Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  1. A GROW trainer must have obtained GROW trainer certification from the Office of Workforce Development and Training (OWDT) prior to conducting any training sessions.
  2. At least one of the two required trainers must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human services. In addition, at least one of the two required trainers will be a current foster care or adoptive parent.
  3. Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
Working Conditions:
  1. Works in an office environment and in the community as needed.
  2. Possible stressful environment working with relative caregivers, foster and
adoptive families.
  1. Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend
foster parent trainings and home visits that should accommodate the foster families’ schedules.
  1. Fast paced, enthusiastic and team oriented workplace.
Physical requirements:
  1. Ability to travel via automobile for up to several hours at a time.
  2. Ability to lift and carry materials needed for group events and conferences.
