Job description

THE COMPANY: 

Schnabel is a nationally recognized specialty contractor with over 65 years of experience in geostructural design-build and underground construction. We specialize in advanced earth retention systems, deep foundations, ground improvement, specialized grouting, and other innovative geostructural techniques that create stable, lasting foundations for buildings, infrastructure, and other critical structures. At Schnabel, we combine technical expertise with a hands-on approach to ensure every project starts on solid ground. 

ROLE: 

Schnabel is seeking an experienced Foreman to lead a specialized construction crew in the execution of assigned scopes of work. In most cases, the Foreman will work alongside the crew they are leading. The Foreman ensures tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, while coordinating closely with the Superintendent and other project stakeholders.

Schnabelโ€™s scope of work includes a wide range of geostructural solutions: drilled and driven deep foundations, soil mixing, aggregate piers, rigid inclusions, soldier piles, tiebacks, soil nails, wood lagging, shotcrete, bracing, underpinning, and all types of grouting. Candidates who have direct construction experience and familiarity with these construction methods are preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Crew Leadership

โ€ข Direct and supervise daily activities of a designated work crew

โ€ข Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure productivity targets are hit

โ€ข Interpret drawings, specifications, and work plans to guide crew execution

โ€ข Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to support efficient operations

Safety

โ€ข Enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements within crew

โ€ข Conduct daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning meetings

โ€ข Identify hazards and implement corrective measures

โ€ข Immediately report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions

Quality

โ€ข Ensure all work meets project specifications, tolerances, and quality standards

โ€ข Perform ongoing inspections of crew work and correct deficiencies

โ€ข Coordinate with the Superintendent on inspections and testing req.

Coordination

โ€ข Collaborate with other Foremen/trades to ensure proper sequencing/workflow

โ€ข Communicate daily progress, work constraints, and resource needs to the Superintendent

โ€ข Participate in coordination meetings and planning sessions

Productivity

โ€ข Track daily production and crew performance

โ€ข Optimize use of labor, equipment, and materials

โ€ข Identify and communicate potential delays or inefficiencies

Documentation
