Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a qualified Training Facilitator to support the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS)'s mission of delivering finance and accounting services for the Department of War (DoW). The agency's vision is to be a valued partner in financial management by consistently delivering first-class service and products. As the DoW workforce continues to participate in the evolution of the organization, DFAS must optimize its greatest asset - their people. Technical knowledge and professional skills are critical to DFAS' ability to succeed in a rapidly changing financial management and technological environment.
DFAS senior management places emphasis on elevating the agency mentoring program and increasing the effectiveness of its mentoring relationships. This requirement was developed as part of a DFAS strategic initiative to support its workforce with the training they need to be successful mentors and mentees and to assist employees in the pursuit of their professional development and aspirations. The primary objective is for DFAS employees to increase their overall effectiveness in mentoring relationships, both as mentor and mentees. As part of this initiative, using DFAS developed training curricula, YSG Training Facilitators will present training for a one-day mentor course and one for a one-day mentee course.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Thoroughly prepare and understand the stated course objectives prior to instructing
  • Communicate the stated learning objectives to the students within the scheduled class hours
  • Discuss the enabling learning objectives (ELOs) for each unit of instruction and answer student questions pertaining to those objectives
  • Use their expertise and personal experience to provide relatable examples that supplement or enhance materials to the extent to which they contribute to course objectives
  • Become familiar with all DFAS Learning and Development (LDD) training, classroom, attendance, and communication policies

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Five years of specialized experience in mentoring programs, teaching leadership and management principles
  • Have facilitated similar programs in the past 3 years
  • Three years of instructional delivery of live and web-based mentor training
  • Ability to effectively consult with the agency's program manager(s) to prepare timelines and implement activities and events
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, business administration, communication, or related field

Additional Employment Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Males born after 31 DEC 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • "Unescorted" positions are a non-sensitive position which requires a favorable fitness review and background investigation as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
