Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Groundskeeper Date Posted: 12/17/2025 Location: Duneland School Corporation Date Available: when filled Closing Date: when filled SUMMARY OF POSITION: A Duneland School Corporation groundskeeper is required to clean, maintain and groom all corporation properties in a safe and lawful manner. This position has a highly responsible role in providing buildings and grounds services and dealing with students and staff on a regular basis. All groundskeepers interact with individuals both inside and out of the corporation and therefore, must have the ability to present a professional and organized image at all times. Starting hourly rate: $18.30 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Respond to requests of information and services in a prompt, efficient and friendly manner.
  • Provide exceptional level of customer service to all students, community members, teachers, co-workers and other staff members. Observe safety and security procedures
  • Uses equipment and materials properly
  • All groundskeepers are required to attend in-service training
  • All groundskeepers must accept delegated authority.
  • All groundskeepers must cut, trim and edge lawns
  • Provide property clean up.
  • Groundskeepers must remove all snow from all walkways and parking areas throughout Duneland properties.
  • Conduct minor asphalt repairs.
  • Planting, grooming and removal of trees, bushes and landscaping as assigned by supervisor.

  • Buildings and Grounds equipment maintenance and minor repair
  • Occasionally assist in all services provided throughout Duneland School Corporation.
  • Daily delivery of bulk food products and supplies to each of the Duneland School Corporation satellite schools. These deliveries must be completed in a very timely manner.
  • May assist Food Service Department in product stocking and storage
  • Maintains and cleans equipment to meet local, state and federal standards
  • Completes truck order deliveries
  • Assists in the supervision of summertime staff
  • Assists with mail delivery as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by an immediate supervisor

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands) Work Environment: Frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments. Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all buildings and grounds equipment. A basic knowledge of operations concerning computers, printers, telephone systems, and copiers is required. Hours: This position is typically expected to work an average of 8 hours per day. Summer hours will be adjusted as per the Superintendent to assure adequate coverage throughout the summer period. Evening, weekend and holiday activities will be scheduled as necessary. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by all Duneland School Corporation groundskeepers to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
