Groundskeeper II

John Knox Village is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hardworking Groundskeeper II to join our Plant Operations team!

This full-time position plays an important role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and appearance of our 70-acre campus. As a Groundskeeper II, you will help ensure that our outdoor spaces remain welcoming and well-maintained for residents, visitors, and team members. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Position Summary

The Groundskeeper II is responsible for maintaining campus grounds and landscaping to ensure a clean, attractive, and safe environment for residents and guests. This position operates groundskeeping equipment, performs routine landscape maintenance, assists with campus beautification efforts, and supports Plant Operations as needed.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain grounds, landscaping, and outdoor common areas throughout the campus.
  • Perform routine raking, debris removal, and general grounds maintenance.
  • Police grounds and outdoor areas for litter, trash, and other hazards.
  • Operate groundskeeping equipment, including lawn mowers, edgers, blowers, and other landscaping tools.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are properly maintained and used safely.
  • Assist with landscape upkeep to maintain the overall appearance of the campus.
  • Support Plant Operations with assigned projects and tasks as needed.
  • Respond to urgent grounds-related situations in a timely manner.
  • Follow safety procedures and organizational standards while performing all duties.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional environment for residents, guests, and fellow team members.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance experience required.
  • Experience working in a large campus, residential community, healthcare setting, or similar environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to safely operate lawn mowers, golf carts, edgers, blowers, and other groundskeeping equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality grounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to urgent situations when needed.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to operate landscape equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work outdoors for the majority of the workday.
