Job Summary
The work of the Mechanic classification includes the following: troubleshooting, disassembly, checking and cleaning, repairing, replacing, testing, adjusting, assembling, installing, servicing, fabricating, or towing any ground equipment while in service or while undergoing overhaul and/or modification. Certifies for quality of workmanship, including signing mechanical releases on field work.May be assigned to order, receive, inventory, secure or disburse parts and supplies on or off airport facilities. Works according to Company regulations and procedures and instructions from lead, supervisor or general manager.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and repairs on ground support equipment, including but not limited to baggage loaders, tow tractors, pushback tractors, portable power units, and forklifts.
  • Utilize fleet management software accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and hours spent on each task.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and parts are properly stored and readily accessible.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to ground support equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors to coordinate repairs, procure parts, and resolve any technical issues.
  • Drive vehicles weighing up to ten (10) tons (up to forty (40) tons in select assignments) in congested areas requiring good depth perception and ability to distinguish colors red, green, and yellow.
  • Operate a variety of tools, including power tools, in the process of assembling, disassembling, repairing, and installing parts and components while reaching, twisting, turning, and gripping.
  • Read and interpret printed or computerized maintenance manuals, write legibly to complete forms/paperwork as required.
  • Must be able to regulate own work with little supervision and accomplish tasks on own.

Minimum Requirements
  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background check to obtain an Airport Badge.
  • Ability to read and work from diagrams as required.
  • Diesel experience
  • Ability to work with color coded wires differentiate colors to include but not limited to red, green, yellow, blue, black, brown, white, and orange.

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with personal computer software helpful
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends (i.e., Friday, Saturday, Sunday), holidays.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Employees work in the assured management areas of baggage, at repair stations, or at airfields and often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.
  • Employees will be working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Employees may be exposed to various noise levels due to aircraft engines and equipment.
  • Employees bend, lean, and frequently reach ladders and scaffolding.
  • Employees are required to regularly speak and hear.
  • Employees are often required to reach with their hands and arms.
  • Employees may be required to perform a variety of activities that could include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing throughout their day.
  • Employees frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds with the help of teammates.
  • Employees will lift parts and tools for long periods of time and handle equipment such as transportation systems
