JOB LOCATION: Canyon Fuel Company - Skyline Mine
Position Summary
The Roof Bolter is responsible for installing roof support systems in assigned underground continuous miner sections to ensure safe and productive mining operations. This position works closely with section crews to maintain ground control standards, comply with all safety regulations, and support daily production objectives. The Roof Bolter plays a critical role in protecting miners by identifying hazardous roof conditions and installing required support in accordance with approved roof control plans. Consistent with other Skyline Mine hourly production positions, this role supports safe and efficient underground operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate roof bolting equipment safely and efficiently in underground mining environments. • Install roof bolts, supports, and supplemental support systems according to approved roof control plans. • Examine roof, ribs, and work areas for hazardous conditions and report concerns immediately. • Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance checks on assigned equipment. • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and MSHA regulations. • Work closely with continuous miner operators and section crews to support production goals. • Maintain safe travelways and work areas. • Accurately complete required inspections, reports, and documentation. • Assist with moving and setting up equipment as needed. • Promote a positive safety culture and commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Previous Roof Bolter experience is required. • Ability to safely operate roof bolting equipment and related mining machinery. • Knowledge of underground mining safety practices and ground control principles. • Ability to identify and communicate hazardous conditions. • Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. • Ability to work safely and effectively in an underground mining environment.
Work Schedule• Hourly position. • Five (5) days per week, eight (8) hour shifts. Two-week rotating schedule between day shift, swing shift, and graveyard shift. Position assigned to an underground continuous miner section.
