Job description

As an AEVEX Software Engineer, you'll bring unmanned autonomous systems to life! You'll integrate embedded sensors and subsystems, work with autopilots, autonomy, networking, and drive mission success. You'll collaborate with aeromechanical, systems, and electrical engineers to iterate on unmanned system designs as customer needs evolve. You'll create automation and production tools to help release quality software at scale and at the speed of relevance. You'll overcome ambiguous requirements and complex problems with a bias toward disciplined action. Your contributions will matter, equipping our customers with autonomous systems that create a decisive edge in the modern battlespace.

Essential Functions

  • Develop embedded Linux and microcontroller software applications using C/C++, and occasionally other programming languages.
  • Deploy and maintain software on embedded Linux and Microsoft Windows PC based platforms.
  • Integrate new technologies like ROS1/2 and Docker into software platforms.
  • Use Docker to build and deploy containerized applications to embedded applications.
  • Expand the capabilities of our software products by developing new features and integrating data from hardware such as GPS/GNSS, LiDAR and accelerometers.
  • Collaborate in code reviews / merges and in configuration management.
  • Collaborate with other software developers, product owner/manager, and stakeholders to deliver creative and tailored custom solutions.
  • Review and evaluate technological developments in hardware, software, and telecommunications for applicability to current or future requirements.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development lifecycle, and ensure reuse of code.
  • Contribute during the entire software development process including requirements, design, implementation, test, debugging and deployment.
  • Stay up to date with the latest design trends and best practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
