Job description

Primary responsibilities will be to the Groovers and secondary assistance to the Supercoiler. The Utility Operator will run the equipment as needed to maintain productivity and quality expectations.
2. Major Responsibilities/Activities (List in order of importance the essential functions of the job and the approximate percentage of time spent on each of the activities; describe what must be accomplished, not how it must be done.):
Ensure tube products processed on the No. 5 and 6 Groovers meet applicable specifications and visual quality standards. Assist the Operators to minimize the dead cycle time associated with end of one pan and start of the next.
Ensure tube products processed on the Supercoilers meet applicable specifications and visual quality standards. Assist the Operators to minimize the dead cycle time associated with end of one pan and start of the next.
c. Assist Groove operations when required to provide support and machine operations as required. (See Job Descriptions for Groove Machine Operator).
Provide proper equipment and process documentation. Perform designated tasks to insure effective operation of equipment and product quality. Perform prescribed PM and/or repetitive maintenance activities to insure the consistent operation of equipment. Meet production requirements and work to resolve inefficiencies or conditions that present obstacles to fulfilling daily expectations. Work to improve consistency and quality capability of groove tube products.
Operate equipment in a safe manner for themselves and those in the area. Be proactive in the identification and communication of potential hazards.
Ensure proper housekeeping of the area and machines. Trash, scrap, and other debris are disposed of by appropriate means.
3. Other Functions:
a. The Groove Operator will be cross trained in other areas as needed.
b. Perform other duties as directed by the Department or Shift Supervisor and Shift Lead Person.
c. Active involvement in programs to improve safety, quality and process capabilities in groove tube and supercoiler areas
4. Decision Making: Coordinate activities between Groovers and Supercoilers to optimize productivity.
This is a 3rd Shift position. 8 pm - 6 am.
