Job description

FRONT DESK / GROOMING SALON RECEPTIONIST.

Wag Club, a first-class doggy daycare and grooming salon in a beautiful waterfront setting near Downtown Brooklyn, is looking for a friendly, organized, detail-oriented Front Desk / Grooming Salon Receptionist to join our team.

We’re a fun, professional group of dog and cat lovers. We take our jobs seriously, but we also know how to have fun.

THE POSITION:
We’re looking for someone who is great with people, comfortable around dogs, highly organized, and able to keep things moving in a busy grooming salon.

Responsibilities include:
  • Scheduling and managing grooming appointments.
  • Checking dogs in and out of the salon.
  • Communicating with clients in person, by phone, and by email.
  • Answering questions about grooming services and helping clients choose the appropriate service.
  • Maintaining accurate client and pet information.
  • Communicating with groomers and helping keep the salon running smoothly.
  • Processing payments.
  • Helping maintain a clean, organized, welcoming salon environment.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to our clients and their pets.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Previous experience in a dog grooming salon, daycare, boarding facility, veterinary office, or similar animal-care environment is strongly preferred.
  • A basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, temperaments, and grooming is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable answering phones, emails, and managing a busy schedule.
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team.
  • You MUST love dogs.
  • And yes… clean freaks are a MUST! This is a pet-care environment, so you need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and helping keep the salon clean and organized.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
  • Part-time position available.
  • Must be available Saturdays from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. Additional hours may be available depending on scheduling needs.
  • $17–$20/hour, depending on experience, plus tips and additional commission opportunities.
  • 401(k) available.
  • Grooming is closed on all major holidays.

TO APPLY:
Please submit your resume and a cover letter to jobs@wagclubny.com.

Please tell us a little about yourself, your relevant experience, and why you think you'd be a great fit. Please also include a good phone number and/or email address where we can reach you.

A thoughtful, well-written cover letter is very much appreciated.

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of a great team and make it a place where both our clients and their dogs feel welcome.

We look forward to hearing from you.
