Job description

NSC Staffing is currently hiring experienced Marine Electricians with an Active Secret Clearance to support operations at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Active, fully adjudicated Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow NAVSEA Badge.
  • Ability to obtain DBIDS access.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government base access.

Position Summary:
The Red Badge Electrician performs a variety of electrical installation, repair, maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting tasks on shipboard and shop-based electrical and electromechanical systems. This position requires minimal supervision and the ability to independently perform all duties associated with the trade.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Requires limited to no supervision/oversight, has experience in the trade qualifications, and can perform all work required as an Electrician.
  • Must be able to follow detailed repair procedures and instructions required to complete electrical production operations.
  • Perform installation, repair, overhaul or modification shipboard or in shop to electrical or electromechanical systems and components.
  • Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems.
  • Assist with the performance of on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation.
  • Prepare and install equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications.
  • Perform shipboard work for electrical system/component evaluations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 6 years of Marine electrician experience.
  • High School/GED with Apprenticeship Diploma and additional vocational courses or technical school graduate; and/or military and/or civilian experience with marine electrical systems in a repair department or shipyard.
  • Must have the ability to obtain government base access.
  • Knowledge and practical skills tests required.
  • Fiber Optic Splicing, Deep Submergence Systems (SOC MCD A, B, and C), SUBSAFE Qualification.
  • Fiber Optic, Cable Way Certification and Connector Fabrication experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret/Confidential security clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75%.
