Grocery Stocker Job Description

A Grocery Stocker’s main duties include but are not limited to, inventories, restocks shelves and merchandise displays in the grocery department. 
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Works under immediate supervision of the grocery assistant manager and manager. Primary job functions may require exercising independent judgment. Abides by pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Greet customers when entering or leaving department and provide answers to customer inquiries regarding Grocery items.
  • Engages and maintains a professional working relationship with vendors.
  • Takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items that need to be replenished.
  • Requisitions merchandise on hand, customer demand or advertised specials.
  • Rotation of stock according to expiration dates. THIS IS A DAILY REQUIREMENT!
  • Receives, opens and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking the invoice against items which are received. 
  • Stocks shelves and displays with new or transferred merchandise. 
  • Displays merchandise on shelves or tables to attract customers and promote sales, verifying each item has signage or tags.
  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
  • Maintaining a clean department by performing the following tasks: Clean display cases, shelves and aisles. 
  • Transports packages to specified vehicle for customer
  • Remove shopping carts from the parking lot when asked throughout the day and remove any residual trash from the shopping carts.
  • Report mechanical problems with any equipment through the use of Work Order Forms.
  • Answer customers' questions and get a manager if answer doesn't solve the issue
