Job description

Summary: This position will provide quality customer service by keeping grocery items stocked throughout the grocery department. Proper performance of the duties and responsibilities of this position contributes to and ensures achievement of suitable shopping conditions.

Equipment

  1. Box Cutter
  2. Pallet Jack
  3. Electric Pallet Jack (if 18 years old)
  4. Baler (If 18 years old)
  5. Roll around ladder

Safely Requirements

  • Know and follow correct lifting procedures
  • Box cutters should be used with extreme caution
  • Balers should be operated by trained adult employees and safety guards should be checked frequently
  • Pallet jack should be operated by trained adult employees

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work variable shifts
  • Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner consistent with store safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists customer when necessary
  • Stocks grocery store items on shelf or storage area following proper procedures.
  • Opens cartons and price items accurately and legibly; keep store management informed of pricing problems or discrepancies
  • Presents (face) all products in assigned sections
  • Assists in receiving and unloading of merchandise; checks and verifies grocery receiving, count, quality and conditions
  • Assists in building store displays for maximum sales and turnover
  • Performs price checks as requested
  • Retrieves items that customer are unable to reach, lift or find
  • Assists the Front End, performing as a checker or bagger as needed.
  • Assists with cleanup of spills, breakages and other maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Participates in training activities to increase personal skill level, to improve overall department processes and customer service
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department head or other management personnel
  • Provides light supervision and training of other associates when assigned.
  • Meets the physical requirement to perform the job functions listed above.
